Countless journeys have started with households’ possessions being gently packed into them, and their unique white colour is symbolic of AGS’ commitment to quality and professionalism.

Now, however, we are proud to reveal that AGS’ packaging materials – including our boxes – will be phasing over to a brown colour, while guaranteeing the same level of protection and security on which AGS’ reputation is based.

As much as we loved our white boxes, AGS’ new packaging will not require bleaching, and is therefore in line with our global commitment to environmental sustainability.

Rest assured that all our packaging materials continue to be stringently quality-wwwed, delivering the same high levels of protection.

Now in its sixth year, statistics prove that AGS’ execution of this campaign continues to strengthen each year. This is thanks to AGS’ loyal clients who placed their trust in us, warmly embracing ‘One Move, One Tree’, and enabling AGS’ network of 128 offices in 80 countries to give back to the environment and reduce its collective carbon footprint.

“Having personally spearheaded this project since its start in 2009, I am thrilled that we have surpassed the 100 000 benchmark,” says Gilles Taïeb, Executive Director for AGS.

“We always stress our commitment to preserving and caring for the environment, and this campaign is a highly rewarding means of upholding that promise.”

In 2009 AGS formally launched the campaign by partnering with Planète Urgence, an international Non-Governmental Organisation which supports projects involving the protection of the environment and the promotion of biodiversity.

With each international move booked through AGS, regardless of volume, AGS has committed to donating to Planète Urgence for a tree to be planted. This contributes towards reforestation in three environmental focus areas – Mali, Indonesia and Madagascar – and a certificate confirming this fact is e-mailed to AGS’ clients.

The new 12,000m² site includes two warehouses with a capacity for 620 shipping containers housed on five levels.

The facilities are ideally located near major access roads and are within 30 kilometres from the port of Antwerp.

In addition to being convenient, the site’s modern features are an asset to the tranquil surroundings. AGS has employed new technologies to minimize environmental impact whilst increasing security and operational efficiencies.

The entire development project was ambitious and protecting the environment was a crucial part of the planning process and in line with the AGS Group’s ethics.

Significant technical and human resources were fully utilized, resulting in a computerised system to manage the premises and the storage area is now supported by an automated crane.

The staff remain excited to move into their new office space during 2014.

This pilot will track and assess the emission of CO2 and other gases from the AGS Movers Paris branch as it assists clients to move their precious belongings nationally and across the globe.

Reducing the carbon footprint of our business is part of our clear strategy to continue implementing environmentally friendly business practices. This strategy is in line with our active membership of the United Nations Global Compact since 2009.

Tracking and quantifying the emission of greenhouse gases is the first stage of developing and implementing innovative solutions that will soften our environmental footprint, first in AGS Paris and then globally.

Our focus and commitment to caring for the environment can be most clearly seen in the AGS initiative to plant a tree for every international move which has been in operation since 2010. AGS and the customers who trust us with their move, have been excited to be part of a project which has planted over 65,500 trees in Mali, Indonesia and Madagascar.

The findings from the pilot will be shared in 2013 and the concrete next steps will be outlined as AGS continues to encourage environmentally responsible practices in the removals industry. We look forward to sharing more news about how AGS cares for and protects the environment in our day to day work.

The expansion comes in the wake of AGS’ renewed partnership with Planète Urgence, earlier this year.

Having already planted more than 44,000 trees in Mali and Indonesia since 2010, AGS now answers the urgent need for tapia trees in Madagascar’s Itasy region.
